IBER-charactersExcited Iberville Charter Academy students dressed up as all sorts of figures from books they have read (fiction and nonfiction) including, characters from Toy Story, Rosa Parks, athletes, and historical figures. The scene was part of Character Day at Iberville Charter Academy. The event gave students in kindergarten through fifth grade an opportunity to select outfits that displayed their favorite book. The activity allowed students to connect to the characters and the literature they have read.

Throughout the week, students were involved in character analysis activities such as creating character maps, character word clouds, interviews, introductions, and Mystery Character Bingo. On Character Day, students presented a Book Talk to the class about their favorite character/book with the purpose of persuading their peers to read the book. Kindergarten through second grade students also had surprise guest readers visit their classrooms dressed as their favorite character to read to the class.
